The Time to Think Foundation Course - online over 4 Wednesday mornings in July 2024

The Thinking Environment® fosters the highest quality of both independent and collaborative thinking and communication within individuals and groups.

Based upon a central observation (and decades of field work) that the quality of everything we do depends on the quality of the thinking we do first, it creates, intentionally, the best possible conditions in which people will think well, for themselves, and as themselves.

In so doing they become more creative, courageous, and connected. They become more confident in their own judgement, more likely to initiate and deliver without needing constant guidance, yet genuinely interested in others’ ideas. It’s an approach that can be brought to coaching, mentoring, meetings, appraisals, workshops, learning circles and more.

About this course

My Time to Think Foundation course is an inspirational course to develop your skills and presence in helping groups and teams to generate their own best thinking in ways they never thought possible. As Faculty at Time to Think, I have been teaching this for over 15 years.

This course will:

  • Introduce you to the Ten Components of a Thinking Environment and eight different “Applications” Thinking Pairs, Dialogue, Rounds, Open Discussion, Meetings, Time To Think Council, Presentations and Building Incisive Questions - any or all of which will help you transform groups, meetings and organisations into Thinking Environments.

  • Hone your ability to help others to achieve by drawing on their inherent resources, taking your own listening and presencing skills to new heights.

  • Demonstrate a powerful Thinking Partnership session so you can see how well people can think deeply, independently, and productively, when given the opportunity.

  • Improve your confidence and skills in facilitating all kinds of meetings, both in person and online, in setting and maintaining agreements, managing energy flows, different groups sizes, breakouts, addressing challenges, keeping to time and more.

  • Introduce you to a network of Thinking Environment practitioners with whom you can practice, and even collaborate if you wish.

You’ll be able to apply your learning immediately and use it to make a positive impact on organisational culture. That sounds a bold claim but it’s true!

And naturally, as this course is delivered online, you will experience how a Thinking Environment is highly effective in an online setting; you may be amazed at how quickly it can create a safe, open, productive space with people who are meeting online, even if for the first time!

What previous participants say:

Clare Richmond, Award Winning Speaker, Coach and Consultant “Having recently qualified as a coach, I attended Linda's Time to Think foundation course wanting to add another level to my coaching. The idea of giving someone time to think things through for themselves seems the ultimate act of respect, and is deceptively hard to do. Linda is an outstanding facilitator and teacher. Her profound belief in this approach gives weight to the experience, and her calm and engaged demeanour provide the perfect environment to experience and practise this transformational approach. So grateful to have had the opportunity to work with her and be inspired in an approach that has already made a big impact on my coaching. Thank you Linda!”

Amanda Childs, Group HR Director of Kyocera Document Solutions UK, “The Time to Think Foundation with Linda is an excellent programme which allows you to practice, test and then build your competence in taking advantage of having a great Thinking Environment.  The techniques seem so simple at a glance, yet it takes real practice to master them.  There is huge gain to be had if you take the time to understand its power and relevance back in the work place as well as at home.  Linda makes the experience really engaging and the learning effortless.  I have come back to work and am adopting all of the practices and seeing real benefits as a result”.

Rebecca Moore, Culture and Mindset Change Lead at BP, “I attended Linda's Time to Think foundation course after reading the book by Nancy Kline, wanting to add this skill to my coaching and facilitation experience. It's a great course, and Linda is a wonderful role model of how to expertly create a thinking environment. She's masterful at what she does, and I learned lots from observing how she is being as well as practising in the course”.
