The Time to Think Coaching Course - Cotswolds - an immersive course - April 25 - 27, 2022 (plus 1 day online in May) - FULL

A Unique Programme

This programme has been designed to offer you an immersive Time to Think Coach experience, with three days together in the beautiful Cotswolds from Monday - Wednesday (25, 26, and 27 April) and the fourth day online, two-three weeks later, at a date to be agreed between you.

The venue is a luxury cottage near Moreton in the Marsh (GL56).

Meeting in person will naturally be dependent on any Covid restrictions at the time. We will spend some of the time in gentle outdoor walks to fully benefit from being in the glorious countryside.

Timings will be 09.30 am to 5.00 pm GMT each day with regular breaks / lunch.
If the course has to be postponed because of Covid we will arrange other in person dates later in the year, rather than take this online.

The Time to Think Coaching Course

The Time to Think Coaching course is an intensive, advanced level professional programme to become a qualified “Time to Think Coach” for coaches who want to support their clients in going to the cutting edge of their own thinking.

It follows on from the Thinking Partnership course and builds on the expertise you’ll have gained in creating a Thinking Environment for another, and particularly in giving generative attention and figuring out how to best help people to keep thinking for themselves. It will enable to you to take this approach, with professionalism and confidence, deep into your work as a coach, whether that’s as an executive / business or personal / life coach.

We’ll build on your learnings about the observed phenomena of “Waves and Pauses”, and explore how you can be supremely effective without asking traditional coaching questions, or without sharing ideas, models and tools unless and until invited. We’ll consider different parties’ expectations of a coach, contracting, session management, and maintaining a Thinking Environment when specific tools and exercises are an inherent part of an agreed coaching programme, for example, 360 feedback or personality profiling tools. And we will experience the Diversity Session, a powerful process for enabling meaningful conversations about diversity with groups and individuals.

The course takes place over 4 days, learning by doing, with extensive practice with each other throughout and beyond.

After the last group day, you will be invited to undertake a 6-month Practicum period where you coach clients in a Thinking Environment, document your experiences and meet with Linda for supervision, both 1:1 and group. When you have successfully completed the Practicum you will be invited to join the Time to Think Collegiate, our membership body for qualified practitioners, and I will be delighted to award you with your qualification as a Time to Think Coach!

You will need to have done the Thinking Partnership course before starting the Coaching course and be having regular thinking sessions.

The full course comprises of:

  • A 1:1 Thinking Session with Linda prior to the start of the course

  • 4 Live Group Workshops (ideally 3 in person and 1 by Zoom), with input from me and from experiential group conversations and breakouts;

  • A raft of learning resources - course manual, articles, TED talks, blogs, exercises

  • CPD certificates (with detailed coaching competencies listed, if required);

  • 2 hours of 1:1 Practicum supervision and 2 x 1.5 hour sessions of group supervision if you are choosing to go onto qualify as a Time to Think Coach - this starts after completion of the Group Workshops, and should be completed and submitted within 6 months - the Practicum work asks that you undertake to:

1. PRACTICE COACHING SESSIONS: Practice-coach two people (not course participants) for three sessions each (six sessions in total). After each session, write/record a summary of the session and notes of your learning, as well as questions that the session raised for you.

2. EXPLICATE THE PAUSES: Demonstrate your competence in thinking through the ‘considerations’ that lead to the best choice of next question for the Thinker. Your Practicum Faculty will be in touch after day 4 of the course to let you know how they want you to demonstrate that competence.

3. CHARACTERISE THE THINKING SESSION AS COACHING: Communicate to your me as your Practicum Faculty (in whatever form we agree) your responses to these questions:

a. In what ways do you think the Thinking Session is a genuine and effective coaching framework?

b. What do you think are the features of the Thinking Session that are not usually found in other coaching approaches that you will need to explain to your clients? How would you explain each of them?

4. HAVE TWICE-WEEKLY THINKING SESSIONS: During the period of your learning and qualifying, continue to refine and advance your expertise by having two Thinking Sessions per week, confirming progress by email with me as your Practicum faculty mentor.
